Orison of the Lovelorn

Mornings, I wake uttering the same prayer…

Help me forget the way his kiss felt against my mouth.

Lift the veil on this adumbrated existence I am living and heal my wounded heart.

  1. KymmInBarcelona says:

    Sweet prayer, Kir.
    But, oh, no, never forget!!!

  2. Once, in my 20’s this was me. I didn’t think I would survive-but I learned that time can be such a friend:)

Kir, have a wonderful weekend! xx

  3. Draug419 says:

    That’s a sad prayer.

  4. Adumbrated – excellent. I hope that prayer is answered, memories can be hard to bear. Thanks for linking up!

  5. There is sadness in the prayer, but also hope that healing will begin. Of course, when we’re broken and hurting, the last thing we want to hear is that it takes time…but it does :)

  6. …adumbratred? New word for me. Excuse me while I just add it to my Lexicon. Cheers :-)

  7. Remove the pain, but not the sweet memory.

  8. A heartbreaking prayer, more a plea for freedom.

  9. Ouch. I felt the pain. Good job.

  10. What a heartbreaker! I wanted to offer a hug, and you know I am tactile defensive. That is a sign of a great writer–I got caught up in just 33 words!

  11. Wow Kir in 33words you have certainly stirred emotions. I also hope you find healing.

  12. Oh Kir. You do it every single time! Wonderful!

  13. Oh, the heart-pinchy loveliness of this! And the word “adumbrated” adds a delicious solemnity and weight to the prayer. Beautiful.

  14. Very powerful prayer and wonderfully written with beauty.

  15. Beautifully done!

  16. Gorgeous Kir! Love how intense the emotions are in this piece. And, adumbrated existence – just wow! :)

  17. Very raw, real and honest.

  18. Gorgeous. Yes I remember those kinds of feelings from the ups and downs of my pre-married dating days.

  19. Whew. How painful but effective here.

  20. Kir, this is so heartbreakingly real! I remember feeling this way. Now I can’t believe the guys I wasted tears on. Ugh! Hopefully she (or he) will come to feel that way somebody soon.

  21. whew, Kir. You’ve captured the essence of that with which so many have faced in the form of such a bittersweet struggle. 5-star reliability factor! (plus you got extra credit for throwing in adumbrated – I “faintly” remembered its meaning)
